Two-day thematic-oriented seminar on the topic “Art with sugar dough“

In the period of October 05-06, 2020 in the town of Pomorie, within Activity 3 “Orientation and targeting of newly arrived TCN’s on skills and interests to engage in various thematic-oriented seminars to acquire new skills and knowledge, applicable to promoting entrepreneurship, with an emphasis on female entrepreneurship among the target group“, sub-activity 3.2. “Conducting thematic-oriented seminars by interests in order to promote entrepreneurship, with an emphasis on women's entrepreneurship among newly arrived TCN’s” from the project “Fighting together against prejudices and stereotypes – TCN’s employment and entrepreneurship“, а seminar on “Art with sugar dough” was held.

The event was attended by 17 (seventeen) representatives of the target group of the project – third country nationals (TCN’s), as the aim of the seminar is to create and/or develop in the newly arrived TCN’s knowledge and skills for self-employment on the labour market and specifically, with an emphasis on promoting women's entrepreneurship.

During the event to the participants were presented:

• The goals and activities of the project “Fighting together against prejudices and stereotypes – TCN’s employment and entrepreneurship”.
• The opportunities for development, including your own business, which offer the work and products with sugar dough.
• The essence and specifics of sugar dough; the types of sugar dough and their applicability in the production of different types of confectionery.
• The characteristics of the raw materials in the preparation of sugar dough; the selection of confectionery raw materials and necessary confectionery accessories for preparation and work with sugar dough; the ways of storing sugar dough.
• The techniques and technologies in confectionery for the preparation of various types of sugar dough for decoration.
• The preparation of steamed sugar dough (marzipan “Varna”), used for decorating cakes and / or small sweets - recipe and mixing the raw materials in steps. The techniques for working with sugar dough (practical exercise).
• The preparation of sugar dough (sugar fondant) for shaping different types of small figures for decorating cakes and / or small sweets - recipe and mixing the raw materials in steps. The techniques for working with sugar dough and shaping various types of small figures, incl. flowers (roses, daisies, calla lilies, petals, etc.), animals (bunny, chicken, bear, etc.), ribbons, objects (baby shoes, Christmas trees, houses, etc.) - a practical exercise.
• The preparation of sugar dough (marshmallow fondant) for shaping different types of small figures for decorating cakes and / or small sweets and / or different types of candies - recipe and mixing the raw materials in steps. The techniques for working with sugar dough (marshmallow fondant) and shaping different types of small figures and candies (practical exercise).

The overall assessment for the two-day thematic-oriented seminar, given by the participants in it, is “excellent”. The indicated rating is a result of the processed Questionnaires for evaluation of the event, filled in by the participants.

The event ended with the distribution of Certificates to the participants, for successfully completed training in a thematic-oriented seminar on “Art with sugar dough“.
